Position Summary

The Employee Relations Manager will lead a team of Employee Relations Specialists and will serve as a partner to business leaders and employees in the administration and application of all workplace related policies and procedures. This role also involves handling employee grievances, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and developing processes to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. The Employee Relations Manager position is an in-office position based at our corporate office in Charlotte, NC, Ballantyne area. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
  • Acts as an advisor to field and corporate leaders and employees on personnel matters, including but not limited to employee relations, leaves of absences, benefits, requests for accommodations, and EEO/Human Resources compliance matters and processes. 
  • Supervises a team of Employee Relations Specialists and provides oversight and direction of day-to-day tasks.
  • Manages day-to-day administration of the human capital ticketing system.
  • Conducts internal investigations, employee disciplinary meetings, and terminations.
  • Use independent judgment to create accurate written reports based upon findings.
  • Monitors the work of the Employee Relations Specialists and provides feedback on areas of improvement in their performance.
  • Reviews and interprets policies and procedures relating to employees and employment matters.
  • Consults with legal counsel on employment related matters.
  • Administers the company’s performance management process.
  • Conducts field/site visits as assigned for investigations, human capital program administration and special projects. 
  • Maintains up to date awareness of industry trends, best practices, regulatory compliance and employment law.
  • Up to 25% travel by automobile, air, or rail to company sites upon request and approval. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required.
  • Two (2)+ years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS, talent management systems and onboarding systems.
