Position Summary   

The Network Engineer, or Network Systems Engineer, is responsible for creating and maintaining all IT networks at RLX. Duties include using IT knowledge to develop company networks, coordinating with company leadership to identify network needs and providing assistance to employees and other individuals on how to use the network effectively. Special projects during new location startups will also be a focus of assignment for this role.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Design, configure, and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS) 

  • Installation and configuration of network equipment 

  • Create firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected 

  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management 

  • Implement disaster recovery procedures  

  • Monitor network performance, ensuring system availability and reliability. 

  • Engage in resource utilization tracking, trending, and capacity planning. 

  • Offer Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to swiftly resolve network issues. 

  • Adhere to configuration and change management policies to ensure successful network changes. 

  • Implement security tools, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the security team. 

  • Coordinate with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution. 

  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems 

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or comparable work-related experience  

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures within specialty area  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community  

  • Skill in examining operational procedures, formulating networking policies, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures  

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing  

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment  

 

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

The non-essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:   

  • Speaking with Managers and Employees on findings and training when necessary   

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)  

  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP 

  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers and printers 

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently 

  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-FI and security infrastructure 

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation 

  • Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology 

  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued) 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) 

  • Experience with network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools
